June 6, 1944 - D-Day, Operation Overlord, Allied landing in Normandy. It was a breakthrough moment in World War II and the largest air-sea-land operation.
On this extraordinary day 80 years ago, the Allies reopened the Western Front to fight Nazi Germany in Europe. Tens of thousands of sailors, soldiers and pilots set out to fight for the liberation of Europe and the end of the cruel war on the Continent.
We always remember those events when designing Arma Hobby model kit. Planes flying over the beaches of Normandy were marked with unforgettable white and black invasion bands, allowing to instantly distinguish who was enemy and who was friend. Models of planes with invasion bands can be found in many Arma Hobby boxes. These are primarily P-51 Mustangs, but also some Hurricanes and Wildcats. And their pilots. 'Bud' Anderson, 'Dziubek' Horbaczewski, 'Buzz' Beerbower and many others.
Remembering those heroes, build models of their planes.
