October has brought us decidedly cooler weather, encouraging us to focus on building models in the warmth of the house or studio.
For ‘seventy-second’ modellers, we are about to start shipping the new Wildcat F4F-4 ‘Operation Torch’ kit in American and British markings from the Allied landing in North Africa. It can be placed on a simple but striking base depicting the deck of an escort aircraft carrier, which, together with a similar land base (‘PSP Airfield’) will also soon be available.
Meanwhile, in 1/48 scale we have a very interesting new release - a reconnaissance variant will join our family of acclaimed and award-winning Hurricanes and Sea Hurricanes in October, with a cool resin-3D-printed conversion set and decals for three very unusual markings.
In British reconnaissance aviation, as in fighter aviation, the Hurricane remained in the shadow of the Spitfire. However, where the famous PR Spitfires were in short supply, Hurricanes were used successfully. This was particularly the case where the most intense and interesting operations were taking place: in the Mediterranean and the Far East.
From today, we start pre-orders for the 1/48 scale Hurricane Mk IIb Reconnaissance kit!
In this new kit you will find three very interesting Reconnaissance Hurricanes, differing in practically everything.
Three different camouflages are offered: desert Dark Earth/Middle Stone, Far Eastern Dark Earth/Dark Green and a special reconnaissance one in an unusual dark blue colour. Each of these aircraft belonged to the air force of a different country, so the markings are different too: British from the Far East, Indian small roundels in two shades of blue and Polish from the Desert. The variety is completed by very high-quality 3D-printed resin parts. These are photo-reconnaissance installations, and each of the three aircraft has its own distinct photo set.
This variety has an added benefit! Once you have selected and assembled one of the box versions, you will still have decals and resin parts for the remaining variants, and you can use them with another ‘regular’ Hurricane Mk IIb kit from your stash, or share them with a colleague wanting to build an interesting reconnaissance Hurry!
Please note: the reconnaissance Hurricane Mk IIb with resin extras is a ‘Limited Edition’ model kit - we will produce it in a small series. It is worth hurrying to buy as it will soon run out!
From 1 October, the Hurricane Mk IIb Reconnaissance kit is available for pre-order at a good discounted price, individually as well as in attractive promotional bundles with other 1/48 scale models - Hurricanes and Airacobras. The bigger the promotional bundle, the better the price!
