New Tank of the Polish Army
The K2 Black Panther is a South Korean Generation 3+ Main Battle Tank. Its basic armament is a 120 mm smoothbore cannon with an automatic ammunition feeder that can use modern types of shells. Additional armament is a 7.62 mm machine gun and a 12.7 mm HMG on an anti-aircraft base. The tank's modern fire control system ensures high accuracy of fire at various distances.
The armor of the K2PL tank in the standard configuration can be additionally supplemented by active protection systems such as soft kill (VIRSS) and hard kill (KAPS). It provides high resistance to projectiles and mine explosions. The vehicle's drive is a diesel engine with a power of 1500 HP with an automatic gearbox, guaranteeing high speed and mobility in any terrain. The tank is characterized by a low weight of 55 tons and the use of an efficient hydropneumatic suspension.
All ordered K2PL tanks will be equipped with a communication system analogous to that used in the Polish Armed Forces, as well as with the BMS battlefield management system, compatible with the system that will be equipped with the M1A2 ABRAMS tanks. Changes in the configuration provided for the tank in the Polish K2 version will include strengthening the armor, retrofitting with a 360-degree observation system and the Active Vehicle Protection System ASOP, adaptation to programmable ammunition from another source and the Polish 12.7 mm WKM machine gun.
