It doesn't need to be explained to anyone that it is a good idea to have extra spruess (known as overtrees) for your model kit. Why? There are many reasons:
- you can use the remaining decals from the original kit
- you can build a second model with different decals from an independent manufacturer
- due to the repetitive nature of many operations (e.g. prepared paint in the airbrush), building a second model in parallel is much easier.
- the extra sprue can also be used for testing, or you can use parts from it to salvage something that didn't work out the first time....
...and there are many other reasons.
Knowing that modellers like buying kits with extra sprues very much, we decided to test a new functionality in our online shop Armahobby.com: adding extra sprues to the model kit.
To start with, we chose Arma Hobby's Yak-1b in 1/72 scale. These are excellent kits, superbly detailed and at the same time simple to build, awarded the gold medal ‘Model of the Year 2020’. The decal sheet on all of our Yaks not only includes cool, varied markings, but also a double set of stencils and details for the cockpit (instrument panel, etc.), which you can use just for the extra sprues!
Now, when you buy any 1/72 scale Arma Hobby Jak-1b kit in our shop, you can choose the ‘Add extra sprue’ option and for 4,55 EUR add a set of sprues (grey sprue and glazing) - which will allow you to build a second complete model!
For now we are testing this solution, we want to see if modelers like it and if it will work well in our shop system. That's why we are launching this for a limited time only, until 27 October. Take advantage of this opportunity, buy Yaks with extra sprues, build them using either kit decals or aftermarket ones and let us know if you like this option!
